"I want my students to be able to make choices where they see wrongs or moral uncertainties; to not be bystanders, but to be upstanders," says Anthony Smith, Assistant Head Teacher at Notre Dame Roman Catholic Girls' School, London. He credits Facing History and Ourselves, which is part of the curriculum across all subjects in the school, with helping students make sense of the incomprehensible. Smith spoke at Facing History's 2011 UK benefit dinner.
