This segment of the Scope and Sequence examines the primary historical case study of Holocaust and Human Behavior, as well as other instances of intolerance, mass violence and genocide, in each case exploring the small steps which led to these difficult periods in history. By focusing on these histories, students grasp the complexities of the past, while also connecting it to their lives today.

Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Pacifist, Nazi Resister

Dietrich Bonhoeffer was a young German theologian who offered one of the first clear voices of resistance to Adolf Hitler. Bonhoeffer openly challenged his church to stand with the Jews in their hour of need, and eventually joined a plot to kill Hitler. Archival footage is interwoven with interviews with friends, family, and students of Bonheoffer, with historians and theologians, and with the words of Bonhoeffer himself.
