Choosing to Participate premiered at the Boston Public Library in 1998. Since then, the exhibition has visited Chicago, New York, Memphis, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. More than a quarter of a million people have visited the exhibition, including hundreds of school groups comprising over 40,000 students.
Choosing to Participate has received significant support from leading corporations, foundations, and community and business leaders in each city it has visited. Choosing to Participate has also generated considerable press coverage during the tour including editorials, op-eds, and feature stories in major metropolitan newspapers and electronic media.
