Young Artists Speak Out is an exhibition of creative expressions by young people in grades 7–12 that reflect central themes of Choosing to Participate: Facing History and Ourselves. It originated from a competition held this past summer among students representing independent and public middle and high schools from throughout Southern California. The artwork included in the resulting exhibition was chosen from 133 student submissions by a panel of museum curators, artists and community members. The event took place in early 2003.
