Jewish Day Schools Teach Lessons of the Holocaust
Facing History and Ourselves' work with educators in Jewish educational settings was recently featured in a story by the Los Angeles Jewish Journal. The article highlights one project of our Jewish Education Program that works to create a richer and more meaningful Jewish educational experience for middle school and high school students. Funded by a million dollar grant from the Jim Joseph Foundation, the project was launched in January of 2009 and has allowed Facing History to develop strong relationships with eight schools in the greater Boston and greater Los Angeles communities. The use of Facing History’s approach in classes across several grade levels and disciplines will reinforce the connection between Jewish values and the humanities in the larger school community.
