Students of South Lakes High School

Reston, Virginia
United States

Students of South Lakes High SchoolStudents of South Lakes High School, Reston, Virginia. South Lakes High has become one of the sites for the American Cancer Society’s campaign to end cancer through the Relay for Life. Relay is a life-changing event to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. Relay began in 1985 when Gordy Klatt, a colorectal surgeon in Tacoma, Washington, ran and walked around a track for 24 hours to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Since then Relay has grown into the world’s largest movement to end the disease. South Lakes High School is a Relay site, and a team of South Lakes students raised $27,000 for a fellow student who needed treatment for brain cancer.
