Student Leaders, Shaw HS

Facing History and Ourselves Student Leadership Group
Bullying affects far more kids than many people realize. When a student leadership group at Shaw High School shared their own experiences about bullying, they discovered they had all been affected. They spent time learning about the roles of bully, victim, bystander, and upstander. Armed with personal bullying stories and anti-bullying techniques, they came up with a project to visit elementary school students and teach them about the long-term effects of bullying.
By sharing their own stories and discussing anti-bullying strategies, the high school group inspired elementary students to reflect on their own lives and think about how they could become upstanders.
