Samantha Power

A member of the national security council, Samantha Power's 2003 book, A Problem from Hell: America and the Age of Genocide, documented the stories of upstanders within the United States government who warned about geenocide and tried to get the government to take action. For her work, Power was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction. In 2008, Power's second book Chasing the Flame: Sergio Vieira de Mello and the Fight to Save the World. The book follows uses de Mello's biography to illuminated the real world dilemmas upstanders for human rights face as they try to live up to their ideals.
