Paw Pree

Lakewood, Ohio
United States

Paw Pree

Volunteer, Program Associate for A.S.I.A., Inc.

While wisdom and compassion can be the fruits of old age, to some they come young. Paw Pree is that kind of person.

Paw Pree lived in a refugee camp on the Thai-Burma border for seven years before coming to the United States. Separated from her family and a victim of the repressive Burmese (Myanmar) government, she has dedicated her life to assisting other refugee families. She spends her time off conducting home visits with newly-settled refugee families to see if they need assistance adjusting to their new lives. Though there are religious and cultural differences between the Burmese Muslim minority, Burmese Ka’ren, Burmese Shan, Burmese Kareni, and Burmese Chin that have come to Northeast Ohio, Paw Pree promotes unity and treats each person with the same respect and care.

Paw Pree reminds us that it is possible to have great depth of character and experience at any age.

“Paw Pree reminds us that it is possible to have great depth of character and experience at any age.”
