Josh & Dani Berns

Founders, The Race
What can kids do to help find a cure for breast cancer? Just ask Josh and Dani Berns. In 2004, Josh (age 12) and Dani (age 10) came up with the idea for The Race, a one-mile run and walk to raise funds and awareness to combat the disease.
The family-friendly event takes place at Legacy Village in Lyndhurst, Ohio each Mother’s Day morning. Neighbors, friends, and families congregate to celebrate the shared endeavor and work as a community to help find a cure for breast cancer. So far they have raised over $400,000, and the figure keeps growing by leaps and bounds. Every penny is donated to the Taussig Cancer Institute at the Cleveland Clinic.
Josh and Dani are an inspiration to children everywhere. They prove that when you feel passionately about a cause, anything is possible.
