John Prendergast

United States

John Prendergast

Activist John Prendergast has been on a mission to focus the world's attention on the genocide in Darfur, Sudan and inspire people to intervene in the ongoing crisis. He, along with actor Don Cheadle, authored Not on Our Watch which offers six strategies readers can use to shape political change: Raise Awareness, Raise Funds, Write a Letter, Call for Divestment, Start an Organization, and Lobby the Government. Each of these small actions can make a huge difference in the fate of a nation and a people. Prendergast is also the co-founder of Enough, an organization committed to stopping and preventing genocide and crimes against humanity.

Facing History and Ourselves produced a study guide for Darfur Now, a film featuring Cheadle and Prendergast as well as others working to end the genocide in Darfur. Below is also a video for Cheadle and Prendergast speaking to Facing History and Ourselves students.
