Resources for Educators

BlackboardFacing History offers a variety of resources and professional development opportunities for educators.

Choosing to Participate

Download the newly revised Choosing to Participate Resource Book
Choosing to Participate focuses on civic choices—the decisions people make about themselves and others in their community, nation, and world. Using stories from primary source material, journalistic accounts, as well as memoir, this resource book is designed to encourage students and teachers to think deeply about what it means to be a citizen in a democracy.

Choosing to Participate online stories
Watch videos, listen to audio and read the stories from the exhibit

Self-paced online workshop for educators
This free online workshop introduces educators to the stories presented in Choosing to Participate. The workshop is a companion piece for using Choosing to Participate in your classroom to help your students think critically about their roles and the importance of choosing to participate in their communities and in the world at large.
